Musicians Honoured @ Western Music Awards

Kofi Kinaata won the artiste of the year at this year’s edition of the Western Music Awards held at Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi last Saturday, May 12.

This is the second time the ‘Susuka’ hitmaker has won the flagship award at the event.

He beat competition from artistes such as Vincent Nyarko, Singlet, Ayesem, Aya SK Frimpong, Nero X and Snow B to claim the award on the night.

In addition to the artiste of the year award, Kofi Kinaata also took home the hiplife song of the year award. He beat the likes of Afezi Perry, Ayesem, Ayma, Singlet, Paa Kwasi and Obuju Faya.

At the ceremony, 22 music industry players who hail from the Western Region were also honoured for their contributions towards the development of the industry in the country.

The second edition of Western Music Awards, which was organised by Westline Entertainment, with sponsorship from Rigworld Training Centre and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), brought together a number of musicians, sound engineers, beat makers, bloggers, among others, to celebrate Ghanaian music and the hardworking artistes in the region.

Some of the celebrities who also graced the event include Kwabena Kwabena, Wutah Kobby, Bessa Simons, DJ Switch and Uncle Benedict, both of Talented Kids fame, Dr Pounds of Hitz FM, George Britton, Philip Osei Bonsu and others. The Deputy Minister of Energy, Joseph Cudjoe, was among important personalities invited to grace the event.
