Sack Agric Minister over missing 300 trucks of premix fuel – Former Dep Minister

December 11, 2017

Former deputy trade minister in the immediate past NDC administration has called for the resignation or dismissal of the Agric Minister for failing to account for 300 trucks of premix fuel meant for fishing communities.
The issue of the missing fuel subsidized by the tax payer for fishing communities has attracted serious concern among Ghanaians with many fishermen complaining bitterly about what they say is diversion of the fuel.
“For this matter, I don’t blame the President. He has put people in charge there and if they are not able to deliver, then they should be sacked,” Murtala Mohammed stated on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana.
He said the trucks were supposed to have tracking devices and if they cannot be tracked or accounted for then the minister must go.
“You are talking about almost over 200 to 300 trucks of fuel that cannot be tracked,” he stated and said people put in charge must provide answers.
The former deputy minister stated that the agric sector recorded negative 17 percent growth rate for 2016 and such seeming diversions of fuel intended for the sector was inimical to the sector.
“The fishing communities apart from the three northern regions are the poorest in the country,” ehe lamented and added that such diversions would no doubt affect the wellbeing of people in these communities since many there depend on fishing for their livelihoods.
